The Promise and Pitfalls of Generational Transformation in a Tech-Driven World
Change is often necessary because it allows us to deepen our understanding and move beyond outdated ways of thinking. However, each generation seems to struggle with adapting to shifts in society, often clinging to the familiar rather than embracing transformation. This resistance raises an important question: is it driven by fear of the unknown or by a lack of knowledge on how to navigate change?
I place my hopes on newer generations to spark the transformation society needs. Yet, I also recognize a concerning trend. Instead of delivering authenticity, many shifts brought forward by younger generations appear superficial or misplaced. The misuse of technology, in particular, has had a profound negative impact, fostering widespread passivity, disconnection, and a loss of meaning in life. Too often, young people seem to follow trends without reflection, which creates a cycle of uncritical imitation.
This is not simply a generational challenge—it is a societal one. If technology continues to be misapplied, we risk cultivating a culture where thought, creativity, and purpose are diminished. In this sense, the real sickness lies not within individuals, but within how society shapes and enables them. I believe that as technology evolves, there is also an opportunity to guide humanity toward greater stability, responsibility, and mental resilience. By doing so, we may reduce the root causes of harm, such as crime, violence, and disconnection, and instead move toward a society that thrives on genuine progress.
